Greater Kansas Cricket Club has its origins in the Greater Kansas area. More than 12 years ago a few passionate cricketers used available parking lots to play this game. Later on they graduated to a baseball field in a nearby school and then on to a larger field. Several enterprising cricketers organized tournaments and as the cricket playing population grew, this area became home to more than 25 "taped-tennis" ball teams.
Greater Kansas Cricket Club worked with the City of Topeka to establish the first cricket ground in Greater Kansas comprising of Johnson County, Lawrence, Topeka and Manhattan, KS. In 2003, the year the cricket field was established, several friendly games were organized. With sufficient interest from various teams, a league structure is being envisioned for 2004.
GKCC welcomes passionate cricketers from all over Kansas and hopes to make this passion an enjoyable experience.
